Maternity Ward

A maternity ward specializes in caring for women during pregnancy and childbirth. It also provides care for newborn infants.

ADMISSION:
  • On average admissions made are as follows:
  • 4 mothers daily.
  • 28 mothers weekly.
  • 112 mothers monthly.
  • 1144 yearly.
 
DUTIES:
  1. Dump dusting.
  2. Ordering of drugs.
  3. Ward rounds.
  4. Admitting patients.
  5. Giving treatment.
  6. Discharging patients.
  7. Compiling data.
  8. Organizing the ward for duty
  9. Maternal, perinatal and neonatal audits.
  10. Ward meetings.
 
STAFFING:

Maternity ward has 13 staff members on the ward and each shift has 3 midwives:
  • 1 Full time Dr.
  • 1 Registered midwife
  • 9 Enrolled midwives
  • 2 Cleaners on the ward and each day all work harder to maintain the ward clean 

The staff members work as a team and are result oriented.
The working hours are less than 48 hours in a week per staff on duty. 
 
NEONATAL WARD:
The Doctors and Midwives have a special love for all patients especially the preterm babies. Under Maternity ward we have got also a neonatal ward which is well equipped with 2 incubators, 2 oxygen concentrators, CPAP machine, 2 pulse oxyometer, 2 thermometers and all other supplies. 
The staff always keep the ward and maintain good waste segregations.

Maternity ward has the following departments
  • Neonatal wing.
  • Labor suit.
  • ANC Admission room.
  • Postnatal care room.
  • Private Rooms (4)
  • Nurses station room
  • Isolation Room.
  • Kangaroo Mother Care Room among others.
